Brief Bio

Kenneth Olive, MD is Professor of Medicine at East Tennessee State University's Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City. He also serves as Quillen College of Medicines Executive Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs.

After earning his medical degree from East Carolina University School of Medicine, Dr. Olive completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the U.S. Air Force Medical Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.

A noted academician, Dr. Olive has often been recognized for his teaching excellence. He was the recipient of the Quillen College of Medicines Deans Teaching Award on seven separate occasions, and received its Deans Distinguished Teaching Award in the Clinical Sciences in 2006. One year later, he received the Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award, presented by the residents in the Department of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Olive is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine. He has authored several articles in peer-reviewed publications, and recently completed a term as the Governor of the Tennessee Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
