The Quillen College of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine's Division of Cardiology provides outpatient and inpatient services with an excellent academic structure and support. Our Division provides inpatient services at Johnson City Medical Center, Franklin Woods Community Hospital and Sycamore Shoals Hospital, where we provide consultations, admit patients and perform procedures. ETSU Health Cardiology provides up-to-date diagnostic and therapeutic heart care for the patients in our region. Our diagnostic services include:
- General Cardiology
- Electrophysiology
- Echocardiography
- Nuclear Cardiology
- Interventional Cardiology
One of our faculty is on call on a rotational basis and covers all the inpatient services. We have a strong teaching service at Johnson City Medical Center, where a team inclusive of cardiology fellows, residents and medical students is involved in participation of care directed by the clinical faculty. Cardiology fellows are involved in consultation services and performing and interpretation of diagnostic studies, including echocardiograms, stress tests, nuclear imaging studies, coronary angiograms, device implantations and electrophysiologystudies.
Faculty perform noninvasive and invasive procedures in the field of cardiology. We have board certified interventional cardiologists who perform percutaneous interventions of coronary and peripheral vasculature at Johnson City Medical Center. We also have a board certified electrophysiologist, who performs device implantations, electrophsyiology studies and ablations for complex cardiac arrhythmias.
The outpatient service is located at 329 N State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, across from the Johnson City Medical Center. We provide outpatient services, which include consultations, hospital follow-ups, CHF clinics, fellow continuity clinics, screening for peripheral vascular diseases, and pacemaker and defibrillator interrogation with programming on a daily basis. We also perform EKGs, echocardiograms, ABIs and stress tests, and nuclear imaging studies.
Our Division has faculty with diverse educational qualifications and backgrounds, who serve in roles such as vice chair for the MSHA Department of Cardiology, chairman for CHF Clinic and care for MSHA, members of peer review and faculty advisory committees, and editors for many journals.
We have a strong academic backdrop, including an ACGME accredited cardiovascular fellowship. We have a total of nine cardiology fellowship positions, which is an integral part of our division. Our fellows have moved on to diverse career paths, including specialization in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and noninvasive cardiovascular imaging.
