Infectious Diseases and Critical Care Fellowship
Welcome to the Infectious Diseases (ID) and Critical Care Medicine (CCM) Fellowship at East Tennessee State University's Quillen College of Medicine. This three-year combined training program will provide fellows with experience in the diagnosis and treatment of serious infections while bolstering exposure to critical care management.
The ID-CCM program will prepare trainees to lead critical care teams and provide robust, cost-effective approaches to the care of complex, critically ill patients. Trainees who complete a fellowship in ID-CCM will be well-poised to have all aspects of intensive care management training as well as infectious diseases challenges.
Dual training in ETSU's ID-CCM program requires a minimum of 27 months of clinical training and nine months of scholarly activity.
Overview
Over the course of 3 years, the fellow will devote 18 months of clinical training in Infectious diseases, nine months of clinical training in different medical, surgical, and specialized intensive care units and nine months of scholarly activity. Upon completion of the two years of Infectious disease fellowship training, the fellow will be eligible for board certification in Infectious diseases, and after completion of their critical care management training, the fellows are eligible for board certification in critical care management. The ID-CCM fellow will share didactics, journal clubs and other formalized learning opportunities with the fellows in both the ID and CCM fellowship programs.

Hospitals & Clinics
Fellows receive ample training in a diverse array of both inpatient and outpatient clinical infectious diseases issues. The fellowship program involves experience at the Johnson City Medical Center, a 445-bed, not-for-profit, comprehensive acute-care teaching hospital, and the historic James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Mountain Home. Outpatient work occurs in Infectious Diseases clinics at the VA hospital and our faculty practice office. In these settings, fellows work closely with faculty and often with residents and students.
