Division Statement | Faculty | Research/Scholarly Activities | ETSU Health
The Quillen ETSU Health, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology
provides expertise in the full spectrum of endocrine disorders, including pituitary,
thyroid, adrenal diseases, diabetes, obesity and disorders of mineral metabolism. Currently, there are two board certified endocrinologists with plans to enlarge the
division leading eventually to the development of an Endocrine fellowship.
Medical students and residents manage both inpatient and outpatient endocrine patients
at Mountain Home VAMC and East Tennessee State University Practice. There are several
endocrine lectures provided to students and residents in their Academic Half Days.
The goals of the division are to provide advanced compassionate care to our patients
and to provide outstanding and innovative clinical training. We strive to provide
a learning environment conducive to producing outstanding physicians comfortable in
managing all aspects of endocrine disease. The program offers a plethora of research
opportunities encompassing a broad array of research methodology from basic science
molecular approaches to clinical research including outcomes and epidemiology research.
These research endeavors are tailored to individual needs and career goals of each
trainee. The division has had excellent participation from medical students and residents
with presentations at both national meetings and publications in peer reviewed medical
journals.
