Honors
Baccalaureate degree students graduate with honors in the following categories:
Cum Laude - 3.50 - 3.64
Magna Cum Laude - 3.65 - 3.84
Summa Cum Laude - 3.85 - 4.00
Academic Honors grade point average calculations are based on a student's overall grade point average. The overall grade point average includes all institutional and articulated transfer coursework excluding pre-college level courses. Any new transfer coursework received after Summer 2015 will not be calculated in the overall grade point average. Developmental studies/learning support hours will not be considered in grade point average calculations.
Academic Honors grade point average calculations for students seeking a second or subsequent bachelor degree may include all undergraduate credit hours, even those taken for a previously earned degree. Information regarding transfer GPA can be found here.
Graduate degree students do not receive honors.
Honor medallions are distributed with regalia, based on current overall GPA (this does not include the final semester GPA). Students participating in the graduation ceremony will walk with the medallion of the honor they have earned based on the previous semester's overall GPA. If the honor status changes once final grades are submitted for the students' final semester, the new honor will be added to diploma and transcripts. Students are invited to bring their incorrect medallion back to the Graduation Office to switch for the new honor, if they so choose.
Honors other than those listed above may provide medallions or tassels through the awarding organization, college, or department. The Registrar's Office does not distribute regalia for other honors.
