Biostatistics
Biostatistics is a quantitative field in which students learn how to collect, manage, and analyze public health data. This curriculum provides instruction in basic analytical methods and the use of statistical software.
Biostatisticians with advanced degrees can find positions in government, industry, and academia. The need for biostatisticians is mentioned in Objectives for the Nation and the Seventh Report to the President and Congress on the Status of Health Personnel in the United States.Offered online and onground!

Community Health
Community Health affords the student the opportunity to learn how to interact with communities for the purpose of health education and promotion; how to develop and conduct health assessments and program evaluations; and the importance of establishing collaborative organizational and community partnerships.

Environmental and Occupational Health
Environmental and Occupation Health and Safety Sciences prepares specialist who understand the interrelationships between chemical, biological, and physical factors in the environment, and social or organizational factors in the human community.
Students will become proficient in the assessment of community environmental health needs by collecting, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data, and will develop expertise in investigating, monitoring, and managing, environmental problems that may have an impact on the public's health. This degree is offered through the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Sciences.

Epidemiology
Epidemiology is the "basic science of public health," and as such epidemiologists are health professionals who study disease, illness, and injuries and attempt to determine: who becomes ill; why certain people are more likely to become ill: and how to prevent the spread of illness.
Epidemiologists are public health professionals who investigate patterns and causes of disease and injury in humans. They seek to reduce the risk and occurrence of negative health outcomes through research, community education, and health policy.

Public Health Leadership & Policy
The MPH in Public Health Leadership & Policy prepares graduates for leadership roles in public health and health policy through an applied curriculum focused on practice and interprofessional experiences.
Graduates are ready to effectively lead a public health organization using their budgeting, finance, strategic planning, and policy design, implementation, and analysis skills. This concentration is ideal for students interested in public health, health policy, and health disparities research to prepare for careers in the workforce as well as for advanced terminal degrees (e.g., DrPH, PhD, JD).

MD/MPH
MD/MPH Dual Degree Program
Students applying to the MD/MPH Dual Degree Program must first have been accepted to the MD program to be eligible for consideration. Applicants to the dual degree program must receive authorization from the College of Medicine prior to completing the program application.
The Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health (MD/MPH) is a dual degree course of study that complements medical training of clinician-practitioners with additional in-depth training in public health. The Master of Public Health has four concentrations, all with competency-based curricula. Four of these concentrations were selected for the MD/MPH articulation program: Biostatistics, Community Health, Epidemiology, and Public Health Leadership & Policy. Enrolled students will choose one of these concentrations.
Graduates of the MD/MPH dual-degree program will have a broader perspective on health, with a special focus on health promotion and disease prevention strategies. The public health training component strengthens the student-physician’s ability to conduct and interpret research. Students enrolled in the articulated program will develop knowledge and skills to address health and disease for the individual and the population levels.
The application to the MD/MPH Program starts with a student request to the QCOM Admissions and Records.
Once you have spoken with QCOM and completed the ETSU Graduate School application
for the MD/MPH Dual Degree Program, you will be notified of an admission decision via email. If offered admission,
applicants must accept the offer for their application and subsequent admission to be finalized.

Concentrations:
PharmD/MPH
PharmD/MPH Dual Degree Program
Students applying to the PharmD/MPH Dual Degree Program must first have been accepted to the PharmD program to be eligible for consideration. Applicants to the dual degree program must receive authorization from the College of Pharmacy prior to completing the program application.

All five of these concentrations were selected for the PharmD/MPH articulation program: Biostatistics, Community Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, and Public Health Leadership & Policy. Dual degree applicants will choose one of these concentrations.

applicants must accept the offer for their application and subsequent admission to be finalized.

ABM
Accelerated Bachelor's to Master's Program
Students may apply to the ABM program once they have completed 75 credits in their respective undergraduate program and hold a minimum ETSU GPA of 3.25. They must apply and be accepted to the ABM program prior to earning the undergraduate degree. Interested students should contact the Program Coordinator and Advisor at publichealth@etsu.edu to initiate the application process.
The ABM program provides high performing ETSU undergraduate students an opportunity to complete both their bachelor and Master of Health Administration (MHA) or Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees at an accelerated pace. Participating students can apply as many as 12 credit hours of graduate-level coursework toward both of their undergraduate and graduate degree.
The Master of Public health has five concentrations, all with competency-based curricula: Biostatistics, Community Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, and Public Health Policy & Leadership. Students may also choose the Master of Health Adminstration. Accepted students will choose one of these concentrations for their dual program of study for the MPH or will choose the MHA.
Graduates of the ABM program will have a broader perspective on health that will complement their undergraduate program of study. The public health training component strengthens the student’s ability, knowledge and skills to address issues of major public health concern at the individual and the population levels.
The application to the ABM program starts with a student request to the Program Coordinator and Advisor.
Required materials for admission consideration include:
- Statement of Purpose which includes a statement of the student’s professional goals and why they believe they would be a good fit for the ABM program.
- Completed ETSU Graduate School application *once admission has been recommended by the College Admissions Committee.
Once students have spoken with the MPH Coordinator and completed the ETSU Graduate School application for the MHA or MPH, they will be notified of an admission decision via email. If offered admission, applicants must accept the offer for their application and subsequent admission to be finalized.

The College of Public Health is a Coverdell Fellows Partner University.
Choose fully online or campus-based delivery for the Master of Health Administration (MHA) and the Master of Public Health (MPH) in Biostatistics, Community Health, Epidemiology, and Public Health Leadership & Policy degrees. The MPH Environmental Health is offered in a hybrid format delivery.
All master's degree programs and delivery methods offer the option of Fall or Spring term start.
All degree programs in the College of Public Health are nationally accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).
There is no GRE Requirement for any concentration.
