Hubert G. Smith
Lt. Gen. (Retired) Hubert G. Smith graduated from ETSU in 1962 and entered the U.S. Army, retiring in 1997 after serving 35 years of active duty.
A specialist in general logistics, supply and transportation, Smith held key command positions in the United States and served two tours of duty in Vietnam, three tours in Europe, and a tour in Thailand.
During his career, Smith received the Army’s and Defense Department’s top awards and decorations for outstanding service and achievement.
Smith studied at the Naval War College in Newport, R.I., and earned a master’s degree at the Florida Institute of Technology in 1975.
After retiring from the military, Smith was hired by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. He retired in 2004 from his position as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, supervising the overall daily operations of the Nashville International Airport and John C. Tune General Aviation Airport.
