Major General (Ret.) Ronald Brooks
Maj. Gen Ronald E. Brooks is a native of Rogersville who graduated from ETSU with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army through the ETSU ROTC program. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration from Butler University.
Among his assignments were the Personnel Center at Fort Buchanan in Puerto Rico and a tour in Vietnam. After serving as school secretary at the Defense Information School at Fort Benjamin Harrison, he returned to Vietnam as the Adjutant General of the 1st Aviation Brigade.
He returned to Fort Benjamin Harrison, where he remained from 1973 to 1985, except
for three years in Europe.
After two years as Commander of the Army Personnel Information Systems Command in
Alexandria, Virginia, followed by a return to Europe, where he became Deputy Chief
of Staff of Personnel for the U.S. Army Europe and the Seventh Army.
Before retiring in 1995, he spent five years commanding the U.S. Army Soldier Support Center and Fort Benjamin Harrison.
In civilian life, he is executive director of The American Legion Marketing Service Group.
