High School Visual Art
Art Supplies Needed for class:
All Art 1 and Art 2/3 students will need to have a basic set of art drawing pencils of their own to have for the year, including erasers, sharpeners, and "tortillions" (rolled paper sticks for smudging graphite). The most inclusive and cheapest set I've found is one from Michaels, which can also be found on Amazon. It has a variety of different lead weights (which create light to dark marks). If students already have a set of art pencils that's fine. They just need a range from H to 6B.
Students will also need some 9" X 12" 60, 70 or 80# drawing paper for final drawing projects. The higher the # number the thicker and better the paper is. Students may use xerox paper for basic practice and exercises. They can purchase a pad from Michaels or Amazon or any art supply site. I would like for Art 2/3 to have 11" X 14" drawing paper as well. I do have paper at school if it is possible to distribute it.
Additional art supplies will be needed as the school year progresses.
Art 1 offers a comprehensive exploration of basic techniques and processes relating to two-dimensional (drawing, painting, and printmaking) and three-dimensional (sculpture) art. Students will use basic media including graphite and colored pencils, chalk and oil pastels, charcoal, ink, watercolor, acrylic paint and clay.

Visual Art 3 Syllabus
Visual Art 3 is an individualized, focused course for students who wish to explore their art skills and personal imagery on a concentrated level. Students may work with me to develop a plan for individual projects that address their goals as they pertain to future art careers or related fields (graphics, architecture, fashion design, communication design, to name a few) and the development of a professional portfolio. Students who are not pursuing a career in art may develop a plan for the year to explore their personal creative and technical goals.
In Art 3 we work with a variety of professional-grade media, including silkscreen inks, graphic design markers, oil paint, pastels, fine pencils, and more.
