Welcome to 6th Grade!
My name is Marie Jones and I hold a Bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee.I also pursued and earned Master's degrees in both Teaching and English as a Second Language from East Tennessee State University and Western Governors University. I have been teaching middle school for over 8 years.
As a sixth-grade teacher, I recognize the pivotal role this transitional year plays
in a student's educational journey. I believe that laying a solid academic and emotional
foundation during this time is crucial for future success. I'm particularly passionate
about fostering literacy skills and cultivating an appreciation for history among
my students. I believe that these subjects not only enrich their academic knowledge
but also provide them with a broader perspective of the world around them.
Beyond the classroom, I find joy in my family life. I and my husband, Zac, are proud
parents to three children: Cecilia, River, and Ryder. As a family, we enjoy exploring
the outdoors through activities such as hiking, biking, and kayaking. We also cherish
our time together working on our mini-farm, where we embrace the value of nature and
sustainability.
