Study Abroad Day Scholarship Scavenger Hunt (contest closed)
Planning to study abroad but need a little extra cash to make it happen? Complete our scavenger hunt to be entered to win one of five $300 study abroad scholarships or one of five study abroad swag bags!
Clues
All clues will be posted on February 19 on this webpage, on our Instagram, and on our Facebook.
- If you want to study abroad, this office can make it happen! Housed in a building off the University Commons, you'll find your clue among a display of traveler's stories. (Open 8am - 4:30pm)
- If you want to travel internationally, you'll need to have a certain document. Lucky for you, you can get that document here on campus! Find this office and you'll find your clue! (Open 8am - 4:30pm)
- Money can be a deterrent for some people studying abroad. But that doesn't have to be the case! This office is dedicated to making sure you get the financial aid and scholarships you need to make studying abroad possible. (Open 8am - 4:30pm)
- This location on campus seeks to promote diversity, broaden multicultural awareness and sensitivity, and encourage cross-cultural collaborative relationships. You'll find it (and today's clue) in one of campus's most popular buildings.
- Want to know how far Ecuador, France, and Korea are? There's a place on campus that will show you how many miles away and in what direction your country of choice is. Follow the pride walk to find today's clue.
Dates: The scavenger hunt will begin on Monday, February 19 and will end on Friday, February 23 at 5:00pm.

How to win
- Use the clues to find all 5 locations around ETSU's main campus
- There will be a QR code at each location
- Scan the QR code, enter your name & email, and upload a selfie
- You must complete the scavenger hunt by finding all 5 locations to be entered to win
- Please note: some locations may only be available 8:00am - 4:30pm
- The scavenger hunt will end on February 23 at 5:00pm. Entries submitted after this time will not be considered
- All winners will be contacted via email on February 26 with instructions for claiming
their scholarship or swag bag

Eligibility
- You are participating in an ETSU-approved Spring Break 2024, Summer 2024, Fall 2024, or Winter Break 2024-2025 study abroad program or
- You are planning to participate in an ETSU-approved Spring 2025 study abroad program
- All program types are eligible, including short-term programs (ETSU faculty-led or direct enrollment) and long-term programs (semester exchange or direct enrollment)
- Your study abroad application must be marked as Approved or Conditionally Approved in the Bucs Abroad portal before your scholarship will be disbursed
- Only one scholarship or swag bag will be awarded per student
- Students who do not participate in a study abroad program during one of the above terms will not be awarded a scholarship but will have the option to receive a swag bag instead

Categories & Prizes
Group Entry: For ETSU faculty-led programs. Prize funds will be sent directly to the appropriate department. Prize: $500
Individual Entry: For any individual student who participated in an ETSU-approved study abroad program. Students who participated in an ETSU faculty-led program can also enter a photo for the individual category.
- First place: $250
- Second place: $100
- Third place: $50

How to enter
- Post 1 photo and caption to Instagram and tag @etsustudyabroad before August 28, 2023.
- Include a caption with the following information: Name, program location, your favorite part of studying abroad, and entry category (group or individual)
- Photos can also be emailed to studyabroad@etsu.edu to enter.

How does voting work?
The voting period will be open from August 28 - September 28, 2023.
All the photos will be posted individually on the @etsustudyabroad Instagram account for official voting on August 28.
Votes will be determined by number of likes the photo receives on ETSU Study Abroad social media by September 28.

How many times can I enter?
Individual category: only one entry per student
Group category: only one entry per ETSU faculty-led program

How will the photos be used?
- Please make sure the photo taker and all people in the photo are okay with it being
posted and used for marketing purposes.
- Everyone in the photo should be appropriately clothed and there should not be any illegal or inappropriate activities or substances depicted.
- By entering the photo contest, you give the Education Abroad Office permission to use your photo for marketing purposes, including but not limited to, social media, the Education Abroad website, interest sessions, and printed materials. We want to share your experiences to help inspire other students to study abroad!
