We are honored to be hosting Becky Buller, speaking on: “A Year of Jubilee: Healing the Mental Health Conversations Behind our Music.” Ms. Buller, an alumna of ETSU, is a ten-time winner of annual awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association, including the Vocalist of the Year and the Fiddler of the Year. She was the first person to win an award in both the vocalist and instrumental categories.
Her recent album, which will be available purchase at the event, shares the story of her lifelong struggle with depression and anxiety. The event will start at 6:00pm with a Meet-and-Greet in the Tindall Lobby, followed by the conversation and performance at 7:00 in the Powell Recital Hall, both in the Martin Center.
The event is free and open to the public. It is cosponsored by the Mary B. Martin School of the Arts, the Department of Appalachian Studies, the ETSU National Alumni Association, and the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Public Health. The Evening of Health, Wellness, and the Arts is a unique part of the Leading Voices in Public Health lecture series that that allows outstanding artists to explore the interface of health and the arts, and what each discipline can learn from the other.
