How did your education in the College of Public Health prepare you for the next step?
Healthcare Administration is a vast field with career opportunities that I had never fully conceptualized before obtaining my BSPH or MPH. My undergraduate and graduate education within COPH helped me to explore these opportunities and narrow down my passions within the field and set overall career goals.
Something (or things) you wish you had known when you were a student:
There has to be a balance. A work & life balance is attainable and it is up to you and those in your corner to help you find it! As a non-traditional student who worked full time and went to school full time, I wish I had given myself more grace! Make sure to take care of yourself on the way to the finish line so that you are able to fully enjoy the achievements to come!
Anything else you'd like to say:
For those of you interested in this field, welcome! It is a dynamic one that requires interprofessional collaboration and active listening. You will work closely with a variety of healthcare professionals who will challenge you and help you along the way! Make sure to view "medicine" from their perspective; you will be surprised how much it aids you in your own growth and understanding.
