"It is difficult to overstate how much my education at ETSU has come back to help me at the next level."
Question: How did your education prepare you for the real world?
The COPH has a wealth of professors whose method of lecturing and grasp of the curriculum enables students to move on to the next tier of their education as more critical thinkers, with sound fundamentals of the core sciences and long-term retention of pertinent material. The education I received from the COPH, particularly with bacterial physiology, immunology, and anatomy, allowed me to enter medical school with a firm grasp of a sizeable portion of the first-year curriculum.
Question: What is something you wish you had known when you were a student?
The most important thing a student can develop in their study habits as an undergrad is daily discipline. In my experience, it was easier to prepare for exams at a more relaxed pace due to the sizeable gap between exams. However, in medical school the quantity and depth of understanding needed requires roughly 5-7 hours a day dedicated to preparation.
Any other thoughts?
The advisors and faculty I had made my experience in the COPH wonderful, and I would encourage any current or prospective students interested in a career in the medical field to consider Health Sciences and the microbiology concentration. It is difficult to overstate how much my education at ETSU has come back to help me at the next level.
