Question: How did your education prepare you for the next step?
When I started at ETSU, I intended to stay in Environmental Health as my career. Through my work-study experiences and science courses I became interested in Medicine. With the extensive science curriculum in the College of Public Health, I was prepared for the MCATs and medical school. I also feel strongly that my time at ETSU and following an atypical "pre-med" pathway provided me with a strong foundation for working with people and a lifetime of learning.
Question: What is one thing you wish you had known when you were a student?
To relax and enjoy the excellent education!
Any other thoughts?
I was a Commmissioned Corps Officer in the US Public Health Service (USPHS) directly because of Dr. Creg Bishop, who was Chair at the time I was in Environmental Health. After finishing med school, during my career in the federal government, I interacted with all categories of PHS Officers...As it turned out, ETSU is legendary among the Environmental Health Officers in the Public Health Service.
