The Speech-Language Pathology program at East Tennessee State University is an accredited 2-year program focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and research of communicative disorders in children and adults.
- The programs curriculum provides intense education on the disorders and conditions that arise in the field. The goal of receiving a Masters of Science at this institution is to prepare students to enter the work force as competent, well-rounded Speech-Language Pathologists providing the best care to all patients.
- The program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- ETSU has a wide variety of clinic placements in both child and adult settings. Each student is provided with multiple opportunities on and off campus in school, clinic, nursing home, and hospital sites.

Pediatric Clinical Preparation
Students attending ETSU will be prepared to work with a spectrum of disorders in children including autism, cleft palate, auditory awareness, phonological disorders and specific language impairment as well as high risk infant care.
Adult Clinical Preparation
If you are more interested in the adult settings, you will gain the knowledge necessary to provide therapy for individuals with tracheotomies, voice disorders, motor speech disorders, aphasia, and dysphagia, including performing modified barium swallow imaging studies at our local VA hospital.

The Masters of Science in Communicative Disorders with a concentration in Speech Language Pathology program at East Tennessee State University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard # 310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. The program completed a multi-year self study that culminated with a site review in October, 2019. The most favorable outcome of such a review, which is re-accreditation for an 8-year period, was obtained.
