Mixed Americans: Visibility, Challenges and Strategies
This exhibition runs from September 1 to October 8, with receptions on September 3 and October 1 at Tipton Galleries, located off campus at 126 Spring Street, Johnson City. See www.etsu.edu/cas/art/galleries. The goal is to shed light on the plight of biracial/multiracial individuals. The exhibition is organized by Karlota Contreras-Koterbay.
José Galvez’s Al Norte al Sur: Latino Life in the South
This exhibition features intense photographic documentation of Latinos living in the southern United States, and consists of dozens of images of work, play, protest, and celebration. The LCRC is one of the sponsors for this event. José Galvez is a Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist, and his work represents a more nuanced contribution to current debates on immigration and assimilation.
