Exemplary Studies
The Honors Thesis is a capstone project that completes Honors College students’ experience of Honors education at ETSU. More than just a final assignment spread out over two semesters, the Honors Thesis should be one of the most rewarding undertakings of an Honors student’s undergraduate career. The thesis is an enterprise that Honors students should rightfully be proud of, the product of a research or creative project that can serve as a basis for a future career after graduation or lead to further prospects in graduate studies.
For many students, the Honors thesis brings together years of hard work and study and is a tangible result of their application of new ideas, methods, approaches and theories to a challenge that is personally interesting. At the same time, the Honors thesis is an opportunity to work closely with a mentor, experiencing what a mentorship can mean as a student prepares for life beyond graduation and understanding more about what research and creative work entail at the highest level.
The Honors Thesis is, in essence, an example of the exemplary work that Honors students do. Because our Honors College is proud of our students’ work, samples of Honors Theses in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Health Professions and Arts are available via the eThesis system in the Sherrod Library, and current Honors students are encouraged to look at these samples for guidance and inspiration as they begin the thesis project.
