Honors Education at ETSU
- 1992
The creation of an Honors program at ETSU . . .
The University Honors Scholars program is set-up through a faculty initiative.
- Fall 1993 - First class of 12 students admitted to the University Honors Scholars Program
- 1995 - A group of honors programs based in disciplinary areas (colleges and departments) grows spontaneously
- 1998
Grass roots movement begins . . .
The College of Applied Science & Technology create their own honors program and dedicate their group of Academic Performance Scholarships to serve as a funding base for students.
- 1998 - 2003 - Multiple departments and colleges build honors programming and support funding of scholarship opportunities
- 2004 - Programing grows with 10 "Honors-in-Discipline" programs
- 2004
Proposal to create an Honors College . . .
Provost proposes the formation of an ETSU Honors College, pulling on the expertise of past and current directors.
- Spring 2005 - Proposal approved by varius governance bodies across campus, Tennessee Board of Regents, and the Tennessee Higher Education Comminssion
- July 1, 2005 - The Honors College at ETSU begins operation

Today the Honors College at ETSU offers five unique programs to students in all disciplines at all levels of their educational journey.
- Changemaker Scholars
- Global Citizen Scholars
- Quillen Honors Scholars
Additionally, the College houses educational programs for the entire campus community through the offices of:
- Center for Global Engagement
- Education Abroad
- Prestigious Awards
- Undergraduate Research
