The College of Business and Technology is proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of its faculty and staff through the 2024 CBAT Faculty and Staff Awards. These awards honor excellence in teaching, research, service, and staff contributions across the college. Below are this year's distinguished recipients.

Greg Marlow:
The Outstanding Teaching Award recognizes faculty for excellence in instruction and commitment to student success. Recipients are honored for their mastery of subject matter, innovative teaching, and ability to engage and motivate students. Greg Marlow, this year’s recipient, has been with ETSU since 2013, and was named the most influential faculty member by both undergraduate and graduate Digital Media students at the 2024 Celebration of Student Excellence. Greg teaches a variety of courses, mentors students at all stages, and continues to support alumni. As the MFA in Digital Media graduate coordinator, he has grown the program from 11 students in Fall 2022 to 25 in Fall 2023.CBAT Teaching
Jacy Richardson:
The Outstanding Research and Creative Activities Award recognizes faculty for significant contributions to their field through research, scholarship, or creative work. This year's award was given to Jacy Richardson for her impressive impact in both industry and academia. As a 3D and VFX artist with Cortina Productions, Jacy has contributed to major projects like the Toronto Holocaust Museum and the Harry Potter Experience, as well as institutions like the Smithsonian and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Her fine art has been featured in galleries, and her research on Virtual Reality in education enhances student engagement and industry-academia connections. Jacy’s current work on an immersive White House experience further highlights her dedication to shaping the future of interactive media and artistic expression.
Dr. Michelle Freeman:
The Outstanding Service Award honors faculty who demonstrate exceptional service to the university, profession, and community. The 2024 recipient, Dr. Michelle Freeman, has exemplified this dedication since joining ETSU in 2015. As ETSU’s site coordinator for the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, she plays a key role in helping economically disadvantaged individuals and families file their tax returns, providing an essential community service. Within the university, Dr. Freeman serves as the Coordinator for the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program, where she advises and mentors students, guiding them in their academic and career pursuits. In addition, she chairs the BBA committee, leading efforts to review and update the BBA core curriculum—a complex and time-intensive process that has been ongoing for three years.
Richard Prince:
The Outstanding New Faculty Award recognizes early-career faculty for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service since joining ETSU. Dr. Richard Prince, the 2024 recipient, has made a significant impact across ETSU, collaborating with various departments since joining in Fall 2021. His contributions include research on biomanufacturing and nonlinear microscopy, curriculum innovation in engineering technology and biomedical engineering, and securing a $1.3 million biomanufacturing grant. Dr. Prince has modernized coursework, enhanced teaching spaces, and built industry partnerships. Although he is now part of the College of Arts and Sciences, his influence in CBAT will endure.
Ryan Oler:
The Outstanding Staff Award was given to Ryan Oler for his exceptional contributions to the College of Business and Technology. As an academic advisor since 2016, Ryan has supported students in various majors, including engineering, Interior Architecture, Surveying, Computing, and now Sport and Recreation Management. In addition to advising, he has taught First-Year Experience and physical education courses at ETSU. Ryan also serves on the Academic Advising Leadership Team and recently earned a Master of Science in Sport Management. We are proud to recognize his dedication with the Outstanding Staff Award.
