Undergraduate Program Information

ETSU's Department of Computing offers four concentrations

• The Computer Science concentration offers courses in object-oriented programming and design, algorithms, computer architecture,  computer networks, and operating systems. It requires 17 hours of mathematics, including the calculus sequence for math majors.
• The Cybersecurity and Modern Networks concentration, a cohort-based junior-senior level program with limited enrollment, offers courses in secure software development and systems deployment; cloud, wireless, and mobile computing; and sensor-based (Internet of Things) computing. 
• The Information Systems concentration focuses on business information systems, business software development, and business process management.  It requires an emphasis in management or accountancy.
• The Information Technology concentration focuses on web development, database management, and network administration.  It offers courses in client- and server-side web development, visual programming, databases, and system administration.

The concentrations share a common core of computing courses including discrete math and require a course in probability and statistics.  Each emphasizes essential technical and professional skills, including written and oral communication, project management, and teamwork. 

Costs, Financial Aid, and Scholarships

ETSU's Office of Financial Aid maintains information on college costs (see here and here) and sources of financial aid, including grants, loans,  selected scholarships, and service positions.

Computing majors are encouraged to apply for scholarships offered by the university, the College of Business and Technology, and the Department of Computing.  They include ETSU's Honors In Discipline scholarships, which waive tuition for recipients, and community outreach scholarships, which waive out-of-state tuition for incoming students.
