The BFA Graphic Design major is the preferred option for students wanting to prepare for careers in graphic design and related fields of visual communication design such as advertising design, art direction, commercial art, and publication design. The B.F.A. Graphic Design program strives to meet the changing and expanding demands of contemporary design practice and to provide students with the tools to pursue professional development and enhance career objectives.
The B.F.A. Graphic Design major is a focused program of study that develops the ability to solve visual communication problems through a design process that includes information gathering and analysis, conceptual thinking and idea finding, and the implementation, testing and evaluation of design solutions. This includes the ability to communicate with audiences, addressing social, cognitive, and cultural factors and training in the appropriate graphic design tools and technology.
B.F.A Graphic Design majors develop design portfolios that demonstrate the creative thinking and hands-on skills needed to meet the challenges of a changing world.
