About AALT

The Academic Advisement Leadership Team (AALT) serves as a collaborative body that connects professional advising leaders across East Tennessee State University. The team provides a forum for communication, coordination, and shared leadership to strengthen the quality, consistency, and impact of academic advising on student success. 

Working in partnership with the Office of the Executive Director of Academic Advisement, AALT members guide and support initiatives that enhance the advising experience for students and advance the professional development of advisors university wide. 

Mission

The AALT is committed to fostering a unified, student-centered approach to academic advising by: 

  • Promoting effective and equitable advising practices across all colleges and academic units
  • Sharing information, innovations, and updates to improve advising operations and student outcomes
  • Providing feedback on advising policies, technology, and procedures
  • Supporting professional growth and leadership development within the ETSU advising community
  • Aligning ETSU's advising practices with national standards and NACADA best practices

Membership

Membership on the Academic Advisement Leadership Team (AALT) includes the advisement lead(s) from each academic college and the University Advisement Center (UAC), one additional advisement representative from each advisement unit on a rotating basis, and Office of the Executive Director of Academic Advisement staff - the Executive Director for Academic Advisement, the Associate Director of Advisement Training and Technology, the Navigate Coordinator, the Office Coordinator - convenes the team. 

Additional guests or university partners may attend as needed to provide updates or expertise on specific topics.

The AALT meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 2:30pm throughout the calendar year.
