Asynchronous Opportunities to Learn About Great Teaching
At the CTE, we do prefer in-person groups, online or on ground, as our optimal learning environment.
However, we know that not everyone can come during our scheduled times. You might teach from a distance, or hold another job during the day, or simply have unavoidable conflicts for some of the workshops we offer.
Thus, we are pleased to introduce our online, asynchronous workshop offerings!
Please note:
- This will be a gradual process; please check back for additional offerings
- Not all workshops we schedule will be offered in this format, but we hope to offer several
Our registration process is not automated. Once you complete our brief Registration Form for a workshop, we will work to get
you into our D2L site, with access to the workshop, within 2 business days. After
you have been added, you will be sent access instructions.
-
Community of Learners
Every classroom is a community. This “essential” helps faculty understand the best practices for high levels of instructor and student engagement, highly effective peer to peer interaction, developing a strong instructor presence, and strategies for being responsible to student needs.

-
Study Skills for Students
In this online workshop, we will explore some common misconceptions and myths about learning and studying held by many students, suggest techniques and approaches to use with students, and link you to the best resources available.

Providing Effective Peer Teaching Feedback
Turn your collegial course "peer reviews" into something more useful and formative for teaching development. In this online workshop led by Dr. Patrick Brown, learn how to give and receive useful feedback that helps us become better instructors - instead of giving just a moment-in-time "thumbs-up/thumbs-down" to a course observation. This type of peer course review is far more effective for teaching development and should stand up to the purpose behind the requirement for peer reviews in our dossiers.

Asynchronous Videos (Recorded Workshops)
We are also pleased to offer some video recordings of workshops for those who cannot attend the live versions.
Watching videos is less active, but does provide you access to some of the shared content. Not all workshops can be shared this way - if they include break-out rooms or heavy interactivity, the video viewing experience will not be as useful.
Only those within the ETSU Organization will be able to access and view these videos.
We are pleased to offer you credit for viewing; those who watch a minimum of 80% of the videos will receive CTE credit for the activity in our records!
