The Office of Planning and Decision Support: Institutional Effectiveness & Assessment
at ETSU is involved in a number of interrelated initiatives, including:
- Management of the accreditation and institutional effectiveness processes as defined
by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC);
- Oversite of ETSU's participation in the Tennessee Higher Education Commission's Quality
Assurance Funding program, which during the 2020-2025 cycle includes:
- General Education assessment via the California Critical Thinking Skills Test (CCTST);
- Major Field Assessment (more commonly referred to as Major Field Test, or MFT) through
standardized or local tests;
- Academic program evaluation through accreditation activities and academic program
reviews;
- Institutional satisfaction studies involving students (via the National Survey of
Student Engagement, or NSSE), and alumni (using the Performance Enhancement Group
(PEG) Alumni Study survey); and
- Student equity initiatives to improve outcomes for students historically underserved by higher education; and
- General Education assessment via the California Critical Thinking Skills Test (CCTST);
- Administration of the Student Assessment of Instruction (SAI) via Course Evaluations & Surveys (formerly EvaluationKit) by Watermark.
