Growing Stronger Together is a podcast for people who care about children and families. The series was developed
by faculty at East Tennessee State University, including members of the ETSU Health
Department of Pediatrics, the ETSU Center for Early Childhood Learning and Development,
and the ETSU Child and Family Health Institute.Financial support for Growing Stronger Together is provided through a Community Health Improvement Site Investment from Ballad Health’s Department of Population Health and through competitive funding from Tennessee Department of Health's Maternal Mortality Prevention program.
- CFHI Collaborative Series
- The ETSU Child and Family Health Institute (CFHI) Collaborative Series builds upon the legacy of the Maternal and Child Health Collaborative Series previously organized out of the ETSU Biostatistics and Epidemiology by one of our founding members, Dr. Claudia Kozinetz. Public Health Informatics Institute partnered with the CDC to give public health professionals the resources and strategies needed to advance child and adolescent mental health (CAMH) surveillance at their agencies. The Using Data to Improve Child and Adolescent Mental Health: The Opening Playbook highlights the rationale for public health engagement in CAMH, suggests ways that health departments can form partnerships to assess and improve CAMH, and proposes three available indicators that can be used to begin assessing CAMH at the population level. Child Friendly Cities Initiative

The City of Johnson City announced on Nov. 20, 2020, World Children's Day, it will begin its journey toward recognition as a UNICEF Child Friendly City. Through the Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI), Johnson City, in addition to the first cohort of pilot cities and first county, will implement an ambitious, two-year process toward recognition as a UNICEF Child Friendly City.
Through the CFCI Framework for Action, Johnson City will identify objectives under five goal areas focusing on supporting children and young people, including: safety and inclusion, children’s participation, equitable social services, safe living environments and play and leisure.
