Students who are interested in a service-connected program, wherein fees and tuition, together with monthly stipends, are paid in return for service as a physician for a stipulated term. The programs in which most students participate are as follows:
National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship
The National Health Service Corps is Closed.
You can apply to the Scholarship Program if you are committed to primary care and accepted to or enrolled in an accredited U.S. school in one of the following primary care disciplines:
- Physicians (MD or DO)
- Dentists
- Nurse Practitioners (Post graduate degree with clinical practice focus)
- Certified Nurse-Midwives
- Physicians Assistants
The scholarship pays tuition, fees, other educational costs, and provides a living stipend in return for a commitment to work at least 2 years at an NHSC-approved site in a medically underserved community.

Applicants chosen to receive the scholarship are notified no later than September 30th.
Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program
Start this process no later than January to avoid a delay in funds when classes begin, you do not need to know what medical school you will be attending you can update the Medical recruiter when you have that information.
(Air Force, Army, Navy)
The Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to medical students in exchange for active duty service in the Armed Forces; Air Force, Army, and Navy. Obligations incurred in the programs will be fulfilled as medical officers in the appropriate service for a stipulated term.
The HPSP program covers all tuition and some fees along with providing a $20,000 sign on bonus and a monthly stipend for living expenses.

Indian Health Service Scholarships
This program is available only to Native Americans and pays full tuition, other costs
of medical education and a monthly stipend. Recipients must serve a year for each

Hospital Contracts
Students may check with their local hospitals of interest about contracts. Hospital contracts vary based on the student and the hospital involved. Contracts are negotiated with a hospital to pay for a students medical education in return for service at the hospital.
