The Fall 2024/Spring 2025 schedule for public planetarium shows is available here.
The ETSU Planetarium is a State-of-the-Art Full Dome Video Theatre. Our planetarium is home to a Digitarium Epsilon projector from Digitalis Education Solutions, Inc. employing a unique fish-eye lens projection system and astronomy computer software tailored for planetarium use and designed for realistic displays of celestial objects. Visitors are immersed in computer simulations and animations providing a virtual reality experience in space. The planetarium has unidirectional seating for 45 persons under a 25-foot diameter dome. In addition to its use as a unique educational environment for university students in astronomy courses, the planetarium provides free programming for regional schools and the general public.
Location : 198 S. Dossett Drive, Johnson City, TN 37614
The planetarium is located on the top floor (Room 207) of Hutcheson Hall on the main ETSU campus. A map of campus indicating parking for the planetarium and specific instructions for entering Hutcheson Hall can be found here (Map). Visitors may park on campus without the need for permits during the evening hours when public events are held.
