French at ETSU

The Department of Literature and Language offers a minor in French.

The French minor offers a comprehensive study of French language, literature, and culture. Please refer to the undergraduate catalog for specific degree requirements and your degree progress in DegreeWorks; the current minor requirements are listed below.

French Minor Pre-requirements
 
FREN 1010 - Beginning French I (3 credits) *
FREN 1020 - Beginning French II (3 credits) *
*Based on placement test or equivalent.


French Minor Requirements: 21 credits
 
At least 9 credits must be at the 3000-level or above.


Required Language Course: 
FREN 3010 - Perspectives in Practice: French Conversation and Composition (3 credits)



Select any 15 credits from the following:

FREN 3510 - Early French Literature (3 credits)
FREN 3610 - Enlightenment and Revolutions: Literature After 1700 (3 credits)
FREN 4017 - Advanced French Grammar (3 credits)
FREN 4127 - Modern French Cuisine: Culture in Context (3 credits)
FREN 4747 - Study Abroad Paris (3 credits)


FREN 4900 - Independent Study in French (1-3 credits)
FREN 4957 - Special Topics in French and Francophone Studies (1-6 credits)
