Robert Sawyer is Professor of English at East Tennessee State University, where he teaches Shakespeare, Victorian Literature, and Literary Criticism. Author of Victorian Appropriations of Shakespeare (Fairleigh Dickinson UP, 2003), he is co-editor of Shakespeare and Appropriation (Routledge, 1999), and Harold Bloom’s Shakespeare (Palgrave, 2001). His book entitled Marlowe and Shakespeare: The Critical Rivalry was published by Palgrave in 2017, and his recent work, Shakespeare Between the World Wars was also published by Palgrave in 2019. His essay on “Shakespeare and Refugees” will be published in the Shakespearean International Yearbook in 2020.
