Dr. Isabel Gómez Sobrino joined ETSU in 2013. She received her PhD in Romance Languages
and Literatures from the University of Cincinnati in 2013. She teaches an array of
different classes such as elementary and intermediate Spanish as well as upper level
grammar, conversation, culture, and literature classes. Her areas of specialization
are adaptation and performance studies with a revolutionary agenda in Spain during
the second half of the 20th century, Spanish female poets of the early 20th century,
and poetry translation. She has published articles in Confluencia, Castilla. Estudios de Literatura and ALCESXXI. Dr. Gómez Sobrino has published several poems in journals such as Furman217 and Letras Femeninas (now called REGS) and her first book of bilingual poetry entitled Cenizas susurrantes / Whispering Ashes was published in 2021 by Valparaíso Editions.
