I am a current ETSU student. How do I enroll for Winter Session?
If you are a current ETSU student, all you need to do is register through Goldlink for the course you want to take.

I am a student somewhere else. Can I take an ETSU Winter Session course?
You sure can! If you are a student currently enrolled at another institution and wish to take a Winter Session course from East Tennessee State University, please complete the Visiting Student application. Visiting students may apply here: https://www.etsu.edu/admissions/apply/visiting/
International students who are enrolled in online programs from their country of origin may enroll in a Winter Session online course. International students on visa and in residence at ETSU for the spring semester may participate in Winter Session (restrictions on scholarships may apply).
* Please apply as a Visiting Student before the Friday before classes start December 18th, 2024.

How do I find the courses that are offered during Winter Session?
The Winter Session schedule for Spring/Winter 2024-2025 is NOT available on GoldLink yet. You may view the 2023-2024 schedule under the Look Up Classes option for the Spring 2025 term .
- Login to the GoldLink Portal here:
- Select Term (Spring 2025)
- The Student Financial Responsibility Statement will appear – Review and Select
- “Accept” to continue (Selecting “Do Not Accept” will reroute you back to the Main Menu)
- Select Term (Spring 2025)
- Select Subject (or use shift or control key to select multiple courses)
- Select Advanced Search under the Subject Box
- Select Part of Term = Winter Session
- Select Section Search at the bottom of the Page.

How many Credits can I take in Winter Session?
Students can take up to four credits in winter session.

Can I take more than four credits in Winter Session?
No. Because Winter Session lasts only four weeks, students are limited to only one course of up to 4 credits.

What is Winter Session?
Winter Session is considered part of the Spring term and offers numerous 100% online courses selected by the academic departments and colleges.
Reasons to take Winter Session:
- Improve your GPA
- Shorten your time to graduation
- Shorter, more intensive courses allow focus on a single subject
- Nearly 100% online allows you to be at home or traveling during Winter Session
- Take a class that is difficult to get into during the regular shool year
Course registration begins in November based on earned credit hours. Current ETSU students should work with their academic advisors during the fall to select appropriate courses. Visiting students will be required to complete a Visiting Student application.
**Please note that the Winter Session IS NOT designed for students to complete spring prerequisite courses.**

How do I pay for Winter Session?
Students need to confirm or pay for Winter Session by 3:00 p.m. December 17th, 2024
Tuition fee schedule information for 2024-2025 can be obtained here.
PLEASE NOTE that Winter Session will not be included as part of the reduced tuition rates for undergraduate students who enroll in more than 12 or graduate students who enroll in more than 10 credit hours for the spring term.
If your Authorized Financial Aid award for Spring 2025 is adequate to cover your Spring charges including your Winter Session course, please confirm your registration through Goldlink. If your Authorized Financial Aid award will not cover your balance due for Spring Semester and Winter Session, you will need to pay for your Winter Session course in full to remain enrolled.
You may pay for Winter Session alone though GoldLink and pay for the Spring term separately.
It is important that you notify the Bursar's office that the payment is for Winter Session, not Spring.
Be aware that there is not installment plan for Winter Session fees.
Visiting students may be eligible to pay the e-rate.Undergraduate scholarships available for Winter Session include:
Endowed Scholarships and APS: Students who are awarded endowed scholarships and APS may have scholarships funds available depending on the total spring 2025 course load. Students receiving endowed scholarships and/or APS should check with the Scholarship Office.Honor’s College Scholarships: Students who receive Honors College Scholarships will not be awarded the in-state scholarship for Winter Session. All Honors College students (in-state and out-of-state) will have to pay the in-state tuition and applicable fees for a Winter Session Course.
Athletic Scholarships: Students who receive Athletic Scholarships will not be awarded the in-state scholarship for Winter Session. All Athletic Scholarship recipients (in-state and out-of-state) will have to pay the instate tuition and applicable fees for a Winter Session Course.
Graduate out-of-state scholarship funds available for Winter Session include:
Out-of-State tuition maximums up to $4,000 per semester for fall and spring terms will apply and students will be required to pay all of the in-state maintenance fees, any remaining out-of-state tuition for the spring 2025 term, and all other student and course fees.Please note: For graduate students with either a GA or TS contract, there is no full tuition remission benefit for a Winter Session course. These students will have to pay the in-state tuition rate and fees for a Winter Session course.

How will I access the course?
For those of you who are new to online classes, ETSU uses Desire to Learn (D2L) as the online course delivery platform. You can access D2L at: https://elearn.etsu.edu . Your D2L login is your ETSU login username and password. You will be able to find your courses under the “My Courses” pane in the middle of your screen.
