Maggie first worked in the University Advisement Center (UAC) as a Graduate Assistant, while earning her Master's degree in Counseling. During her Graduate Assistantship, she worked as an Academic Coach assisting students in overcoming issues with time management, study strategies, test anxiety, etc. Although her Counseling concentration was Elementary and Secondary School Counseling, her experience as a Graduate Assistant in the University Advisement Center led Maggie to the realization she wanted to work in Higher Education and assist students in their college journey.
After graduating in May 2022, she briefly worked in the UAC as a temporary employee before interviewing and being offered the role of Academic Advisor. Maggie enjoys hearing students' stories and providing a space for students to talk about their college experience and explore their major and career options. She has always wanted to help others, especially students. Maggie was fortunate enough to have advisors and counselors during her Undergraduate academic career that assisted her in finding meaning in her major and career trajectory. Maggie wants to be that person for other students as well.
Outside of work, Maggie enjoys concerts, day trips to Asheville, making wire jewelry, and thrifting. She loves animals and her and her partner's only child is their Husky named Percy.
