East Tennessee State University created the Mary V. Jordan Center as part of our deep
commitment to student success. The center works closely with ETSU’s faculty and staff,
who are committed to helping all our students achieve their educational goals.
Whether you’re new to ETSU or close to graduating, the Jordan Center is the place
to go when you need help, but don’t know where to turn. Our staff know ETSU inside
and out, and we’ll connect you with exactly the kind of help you need. So come see

Mission:
The Mary V. Jordan Center welcomes every ETSU student, connecting them with the people, resources, and support they need to thrive and build their own success. Inspired by Mary V. Jordan's legacy of service, we empower every student to feel seen, supported, and confident in reaching their full potential.

Objectives:
- Empower students with personalized guidance by providing one-on-one support and services for Jordan Scholars and all ETSU students seeking assistance.
- Connect students to the support they need to succeed by serving as ETUS’s welcoming front door for student services, resources, and referrals.
- Prepare students for a successful transition to college through pre-college and summer launch programs, including BUCS Academy and Quest for Success.
- Promote academic success, personal growth, and well-being through workshops, educational programming, and opportunities for connection and community.
- Develop student leaders and mentors through programs such as the Jordan Center Peer Mentor Program and Nichols Academy.
- Support holistic student wellness and belonging by addressing the whole student through an embedded counselor and partnerships with the ETSU Counseling Center and other campus wellness resources.

About Mary V. Jordan
Mary Jordan retired from East Tennessee State University in 2018 after more than 30 years of service as a counselor, mentor, and administrative leader.
She wanted every student to feel seen, supported, and capable, and she helped innumerable students fulfill their dreams of earning an ETSU degree.
