ETSU's Department of Emergency Management recommends several forms of training to prepare yourself in case of emergency.

Emergency Preparedness Training for Faculty and Staff
Rusty Sells, ETSU's Director of Emergency Management, recently shared knowledge on how to prepare for an emergency on ETSU's campus.
FEMA Emergency Training Courses
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) offers interactive web based courses designed to help you learn what to do in various emergency situations.
Emergency Management staff recommend completing the following training courses from FEMA:
- Active Shooter Prevention
- Responding to an Active Shooter
- Active Shooter: What You Can Do
- Community Preparedness: Implementing Simple Activities for Everyone
- Preparing for Mass Casualty Incidents: A Guide for Schools, Higher Education, and Houses of Worship
- Introduction to the Incident Command System
- Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response
Courses range from 1-4 hours in length and each course requires a compehensive exam to ensure knowledge comprehension. Upon successful completion of each course, you wil be granted an electronic certification.
