Faculty
Dr. Ashana Puri joined ETSU Gatton College of Pharmacy in April 2019, after completing her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Mercer University, GA. Prior to joining ETSU, she worked on a research internship and as an Associate Scientist in the Drug Product Development and Operations Department at Teva Pharmaceuticals, CMC Biologics, in West Chester, PA. Dr. Puri earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Master of Pharmaceutics from Panjab University, India. During her doctoral program, she worked with many pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical companies including L’Oreal, Bayer U.S. LLC, I&D Therapeutics Unit, Millipore Sigma, NuFace, and GlaxoSmith Kline/Stiefel Laboratories.
Education
PhD, Pharmaceutics, 2018; Mercer University, GA, USA
M.Pharmacy, Pharmaceutics, 2013; Panjab University, India
B.Pharmacy, 2011; Panjab University, India
Research Interests
Dr. Puri’s research interests are largely directed toward “Development and evaluation of topical and transdermal drug delivery systems”. She has experience in developing patches, liquid and semi-solid formulations for topical/transdermal delivery of different drug candidates and cosmetic actives, evaluating the effects of chemical penetration enhancers on skin permeability of drugs, designing and conducting in vitro drug permeation and release studies using Franz diffusion cells, using physical enhancement techniques such as microneedles, iontophoresis, and laser ablation for permeation studies, performing in vitro microdialysis and conducting in vivo studies for testing topical formulations.
