Required TB Testing
Tuberculosis Testing Requirements
As well as submitting your immunization records, the following will have to be done prior to Orientation/registering for classes at ETSU.
After arrival in the US, all students registered with the International Program or English Language Service (ELS) must complete Tuberculosis (TB) testing within the first 30 days of classes. You will have a hold on your account placed a week after classes start and will not be able to add/drop/register for any classes until you have completed your TB testing.
Note: TB testing is required to be performed at the University Health Center due to management of different complexities of receiving vaccines and the timeline process of the correct type of TB Testing to be performed. We cannot accept TB testing performed outside the US. Testing at other US clinics may not be accepted.
Please call the University Health Center (423-439-4225) to make an appointment.
**IMPORTANT**
Live-virus vaccines may interfere with TB testing results. For those scheduled to receive a TB test, testing should be done per CDC guidelines:
- Either on the same day as vaccination with live-virus vaccine or 4-6 weeks after the administration of the live-virus vaccine
- At least 1 month after smallpox vaccination
