Cellular, Molecular and Chemical Biology
The Cellular, Molecular, and Chemical Biology (CMCB) concentration focuses on the fields of cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry/chemical biology along with applications of these fields to the study of the natural environment and human disease. This research is fundamental to the understanding of basic science processes. Research in this area includes examining protein structure and function, cellular signaling/regulation and mechanisms of action, and gene expression/regulation in both plant and animal systems. Students completing their doctoral work through this concentration will have job opportunities in the biomedical sciences, theoretical and applied natural sciences, biochemistry, and related bioinformatic fields.

Parisima Ghaffarian Zavarzadeh / BMS Graduate Program Student
"The CMCB program offers an incredible opportunity for students from around the world to pursue a Ph.D. alongside kind, expert faculty, innovative facilities, and a vibrant community of knowledgeable students. Through this program, I can pursue one of my lifelong goals: contributing to human health. Being part of CMCB allows me to grow as a scientist and help unravel the molecular basis of human disorders."
