Overview
The ETSU Governor’s School for the Integration of Biological & Statistical Sciences (IBS&S) is a five-week program starting on Sunday, May 25th, 2025 and ending on Friday, June 27th, 2025. It is one of 11 programs offered by the state of Tennessee. Learn more about the other programs offered across multiple disciplines.
The goal of the Governor’s School is to broaden students' appreciation and knowledge of biology and stastics/mathematics through exposure to and integration across a wide range of contemporary biological and mathematical topics.
Students who complete the program will get 7 college credits, completing 3 courses across the five weeks.

Leadership team: The year-round work of preparation for the 2025 Tennessee Governor's School for Integration of Biological & Statistical Sciences is done by the Director and Assistant Director.

Faculty and staff: The for-credit faculty will consist of two (2) full-time East Tennessee State University faculty members and others, described on our Faculty and Staff page.

Counselors: East Tennessee State University students will serve as resident counselors. Since they have more contact with the Scholars than any other staff member, the counselors are a crucial part of the GS Integration of Biological & Statistical Sciences program. One counselor serves as the lead and is the main point of contact during the program.

Students: The thirty (30) students who will be attending will represent several of the 95 Tennessee counties and will be rising juniors and seniors.

Academic courses: There are three (3) academic courses offered for a total of 7 credits, one at 9:00am -11:45am, and two in the afternoon from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. See more on the Course page.

GS Integration of Biological & Statistical Sciences Web Site: Our Leadership Team updates the website during the year, and we aim to maintain the site with the most current details and application information.
- Field Trips. Scholars will have the opportunity to participate in a number of field trips, such as to The Gray Fossil Site in Gray, TN and the ETSU Medical School Labs/Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, TN. Other field trips will be shared closer to the start of the program.
