ABOUT
Dr. Meier received her Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Florida. Her teaching areas include curriculum studies, social studies education, elementary education, and multicultural education. He research interests include curriculum theory, qualitative research methodologies, out-of-school educational environments, social justice issues, pedagogies for teacher education, social studies education, and popular culture in education. Dr. Meier was the recipient of the University's Distinguished Faculty Award in Teaching 2019.
Dr. Meier has published scholarly work in several journals and has presented at various educational conferences such as the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the American Association for Curriculum & Teaching (AATC), Curriculum & Pedagogy(C&P). American Educational Studies Association (AESA), and The National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS). Prior to joining the professorate, she taught sixth grade at an innovative and diverse, year-round, public elementary school and spent several years as a district professional developer for a large school system on the east coast of Florida.
