Lou Elam Reynolds Scholarship
- Purpose:
Two awards will be made each year. One award is to cover the cost of required instruments for a first semester student in the on-ground Dental Hygiene program; second award is for the purchase of an ultrasonic scaler for a second semester student in the on-ground Dental Hygiene program.- Criteria determined by scholarship selection committee.
Janyce Ralston Dudney Dental Hygiene Scholarship
Purpose:
To provide scholarship assistance to deserving students enrolled in the on-ground Dental Hygiene Program in the Department of Allied Health Sciences in the College of Health Sciences at East Tennessee State University. The scholarship was established by William D. and Janyce Ralston Dudney. Mrs. Dudney is a 1975 and 1976 graduate of ETSU.
- The committee shall consider the following criteria in awarding the Dudney Scholarship:
- The student must be entering their senior year in the on-ground ETSU Dental Hygiene program.
- Must have documented financial need.
- Each candidate must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Must demonstrate, in the opinion of the Dental Hygiene faculty, a commitment for and
the ability to succeed in the Dental Hygiene profession.
The First District Dental Society & Alliance to the First District Dental Society
Endowment
Purpose:
To provide scholarship assistance to deserving students, provide funds for scholarly activities, and provide general support of the on-ground Dental Hygiene program in the Department of Allied Health Sciences in the College of Health Sciences. The fund was established through the generosity of the Auxiliary to the First District Dental Society.
- The Dental Hygiene faculty consider the following criteria when awarding the First
District Dental Scholarship:
- The scholarship will be awarded to on-ground students entering their spring semester in the senior year of the bachelor's degree program in Dental Hygiene.
Students must exhibit excellent academic achievements and have potential for success in the Dental Hygiene profession.
Candidates must display a degree of improvement in the program.- Students must show evidence of a caring attitude.
Dr. Francis Ward Morgan Memorial Scholarship
Purpose:
To generate scholarships for deserving students of the on-ground Dental Hygiene department at East Tennessee State University and to honor the memory of Dr. Morgan. This endowment has been established by family and friends of Dr. Francis Ward Morgan who served the university for 15 years.
- The Faculty Committee appointed by the Chairperson of the Department of Allied Health
Sciences considers the following criteria when awarding the Dr. Morgan Scholarship:
The applicant must be a declared Dental Hygiene major.- Must be a second year on-ground Dental Hygiene student.
- The student must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
- In the judgment of the committee, the candidate must possess potential for a successful career in dental hygiene.
- Financial need should be considered but not a deciding factor.
