Admission Requirements

Eligible hygienists must have earned an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited US or Canadian institution.

Interested dental hygienists should apply to the program and to the university. Application to the program includes completion of the online program application and submitting a copy of your current license along with a statement or resume relevant to your dental hygiene work experience. The license and resume may be submitted electronically to Mrs. Brandi Townsley at townsley@etsu.edu or faxed to (423) 439-4030. Classes are admitted each fall.  

All courses needed for this degree completion program are available online through ETSU. The required program orientation is done via Zoom, so there are no requirements to come to campus.


Admission Requirements

Admission to the BSDH degree completion program requires the following information be submitted for consideration and selection:

  • Evidence of admission to ETSU

  • Transcripts that include proof of graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program

  • A current US or Canadian dental hygiene license

  • A brief resume outlining work history in dental hygiene

Admissions Checklist 

The following items must be submitted to the Department of Allied Health Sciences, BSDH Online Program before an application is considered complete

  1.  Application and Acceptance to East Tennessee State University
    • Official college transcripts from all institutions attended. All official transcripts should be sent to the Office of Admissions, ETSU, PO Box 70731, Johnson City, TN  37614
  2.  Application to BSDH Online Program
    • A copy of your letter of acceptance or readmission to ETSU.
    • Please mail of copy of this letter to the Department of Allied Health Sciences, fax a copy to 423-439-4030, or send as an email attachment to townsley@etsu.edu.
  3.  Proof of current Dental Hygiene License
    • You may send a copy of your current dental hygiene license by mail,
      fax: (423) 439-4030 or emailed to townsley@etsu.edu.
  4.  Brief resume or work history sent to townsley@etsu.edu
