A Legacy of "Women on Wednesdays"
The “Women and Gender Studies on Wednesdays” series is designed to raise awareness about the research, scholarship and community engagement conducted by those across the gender spectrum at ETSU; to provide a venue where the community can discuss and support each other's work; and to give students an opportunity to meet faculty who could become mentors for their studies.
Established by former Program Director Dr. Phyllis Thompson in 2012, the then-called "Women on Wednesdays" series was designed to highlight the academic work of women on campus. Since the series' inception, a wide array of faculty, graduate students, and advanced undergraduate students have presented their research to faculty, staff, students and the community.
Lectures are generally held on the first Wednesday of every month during the Academic Year. WGS on Wednesday events are free and open to the public.
