The Creative Arts Scholarship Program is for first-time, out-of-state graduate and undergraduate students, including international and transfer students. Applicants must be accepted to ETSU before they will be considered for a Creative Arts Scholarship.
The ETSU Department of Music offers Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Performance, Music Education, and Jazz Studies. Some of the greatest teachers in this area are graduates of the program. Many performance majors continued to prestigious graduate programs while others enjoyed professional careers. The music faculty represents some of the nation's most talented musicians, including internationally recognized performers, Grammy-winning artists, published composers, and award-winning conductors.
Just over 150 students major or minor in music each year, participating in an annual concert season that includes over 200 performances by ensembles, students, faculty, and guest artists. The ETSU Department of Music provides students with the opportunity to participate in classical choral, wind, and orchestral ensembles as well as jazz, contemporary, marching, chamber, and avant-garde.
The piano faculty and students are world class and perform throughout the year. The Department of Music hosts world-renowned guest artists who perform on campus and provide masterclasses for music students. The Department of Music prides itself as an All-Steinway school. All-Steinway schools demonstrate a full commitment to excellence by providing their students and faculties with the best instruments possible for the study of music. All pianos—from practice rooms to the recital hall—are designed by the great maker of pianos, Steinway and Sons.
Applicants for the Creative Arts Scholarship must participate in the standard music audition process. For most applicants, this requires a recorded video audition if they are not within driving distance. Information about the audition process can be found here: https://www.etsu.edu/cas/music/auditions/auditions.php.
