Charge: |
Review annual classroom utilization statistics (including Registrar-assigned classrooms as well as departmentally assigned classrooms) and recommend strategies for classroom assignments and efforts to expand existing or new usage to appropriate university governance bodies; Ensure that there is campus awareness of major trends, research, and relevant information concerning classroom infrastructure; Examine the opportunities and impacts of adding classrooms or changing existing classrooms to non-classroom functions or shared spaces; Consider issues regarding instructional space brought forward by faculty or other members of the ETSU community and render appropriate advice and/or recommendations; Review and analyze classroom space and make recommendations as to future instructional needs; In collaboration with the Information Technology Council, identify classroom technology needs and recommend responses; and Provide input regarding campus classroom design and furnishings. |
Membership Structure: |
The committee will be chaired by a member of the Faculty Senate or by a faculty member approved by Faculty Senate. The group will include six other faculty members, a dean, and a chair to be selected by the Provost. A maximum of two faculty members from a single college can serve on the team. The faculty representatives must include a faculty member from the performing arts and a faculty member teaching in the lab sciences. Staff members of the Instructional Space Advisory Group will include a representative from the Center for Teaching Excellence, a representative from Facilities, a representative from Information Technology Services, a representative from the Library, and a representative from the Registrar’s office. The Committee will also invite two student members. The graduate student member will be a teaching assistant. The undergraduate member will be a representative from the Student Government Association. The term for each committee member will be three years unless otherwise specified. All members of the Instructional Space Advisory Group will be voting members. |
