At its core, healthcare delivery is about taking care of people. However, how patient care is provided has changed dramatically thanks to new technologies, breakthrough treatments, and government regulations. ETSU recognizes that allied health professionals have an evolving role in a growing industry and works to incorporate dynamic technologies into this degree completion program. Eligible students must 1) have an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or certification in an accredited allied health discipline and 2) be licensed or eligible for professional licensure in their discipline.

Earning a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health can increase the hiring and promotional prospects for working professionals, opening the door for them to pursue leadership roles within the healthcare field. Since this program is 100% online, students can earn their bachelor’s degree while working in their chosen profession. Allied Health leadership careers are projected to grow 23% by 2025.
Students who graduate from the Allied Health online B.S. degree completion program may go on to leadership positions within the healthcare field, medical or pharmaceutical sales, or even teaching positions in allied health education programs. Graduates may also choose to apply to graduate and professional programs.
Students seeking admission to the Allied Health Leadership concentration must meet the following criteria:
- College GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale (developmental studies grades/quality points excluded)
- Official transcripts and proof of graduation from an accredited allied health Associate of Applied Science (AAS) or certificate program (i.e. Med Lab Tech, Medical Assistant, OTA, PTA)
- Licensed or eligible for professional licensure in discipline

The ETSU Online Allied Health degree completion program is designed for healthcare providers in medical fields such as healthcare administration, surgical technology, medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, cardiovascular technology, physical therapy assisting, occupational therapy assisting and other healthcare delivery roles. This accredited online Bachelor of Science in Allied Health is built for working professionals and accepts more associate's degree transfer credits than normally transfer to a four-year institution.

Why should I pursue this program at ETSU?
This fully online Allied Health B.S. degree completion program gives students who have already completed an associate of applied science (AAS) degree or certification in an allied health field an opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree. Students who have already completed their AAS degree or certificate may be awarded up to 30+ credit hours of major courses through the online degree completion program. This may allow students to complete their bachelor’s degree in as few as 30 credit hours of coursework (two semesters).

Do I need to have a background in this field? What are the prerequisites?
Yes. Students must have completed an associate of applied science (AAS) degree or certification in an allied health field—such as medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, cardiovascular technology, physical therapy assistant, or occupational therapy assistant—to be eligible for the Allied Health, B.S., degree completion program.
It is recommended that students complete HSCI 2230/2231 – Introduction to Microbiology/Lab or equivalent before enrolling in the online degree completion program. Are the courses for this program asynchronous or synchronous?
Because this program is designed with the working professional in mind, it is 100% online asynchronous. Students in this program have the flexibility to complete their coursework from wherever they are.

Yes. The Allied Health online B.S. degree completion program is designed to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of students who work full-time or have familial obligations. Students may also choose to go part-time and take semesters off based on the demands of their busy lives.
