With program coordinator approval, students enrolled in the Data Analytics certificate may apply all 12 credits into the M.S. Information Systems or MBA, Business Administration degree programs.

Do I need to have a background in this field?
Admission is open to anyone who is eligible to enroll in Graduate School at East Tennessee State University. You need no previous computing or programming ability to participate. Additional admissions requirements can be viewed on the Department of Computing's website.

Are the courses for this program asynchronous or synchronous?
The Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics may be completed by taking courses in-person, online, or a combination of the two. In-person course offerings will normally be evening courses to allow maximum flexibility for participation.

What are the traditional meeting times for the synchronous courses?
Graduate classes typically begin at 5:00 pm EST or 7:00 pm EST. Classes that start at 5:00 pm meet twice weekly (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday), and classes that start at 7:00 pm meet once a week for 3 hours.

The Data Analytics Graduate Certificate program admits students for the fall and spring semesters. Although summer is not an official application term for this program, the department typically offers at least one introductory course during the summer semester.
