Dr. Karen King Honored for Her Dedication and Service
As Chief Infomation Officer for ETSU, Dr. Karen King has worked tirelessly to provide resources and opportunities to better accomplish the goals of faculty, staff, and students. During the redesign and renovation of the D.P. Culp Student Center, Dr. King lent her support in the creation of and E Sports program. This program, housed in the TVA Knoxville Credit Union Cave, has been a generator for a new scholarship awarding competetive team as well as a thriving center of everyday activity for the entire student body. More recently, Dr. King and her staff worked tirelessly to quickly convert the entire University to an online learning environment in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic. She and her staff prioritized not only the conversion of curricula to a fully online platform, but also the dramatic expansion of ETSU's outdoor Wi-Fi accessibility and stockpile of mobile devises. This allowed students to secure hardware required for learning and also be safely present on campus if internet access was ever a limiting factor. We are thankful for the leadership and selflessness of Dr. Karen King and those like her.
