Definition
Employees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in evaluating transcripts of transfer and readmitted students; answering questions about admissions requirements, transcript evaluations, etc.; performing other work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluates transcripts of transfer and readmitted students, determines what credit should be given for courses taken at other institutions, military schools, etc.
Answers questions concerning admissions requirements and transcript evaluations.
Prepares and mails official transcripts requests daily.
Prepares miscellaneous statistical reports for the admissions and records office.
Answers telephone and gives information to callers or routes calls to the appropriate officials.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
Knowledge of the procedures of organizing and writing statistical reports.
Knowledge of catalog and other guidelines for evaluating transcripts.
Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely and convincingly.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform some administrative and clerical tasks.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Experience in public contact involving information relating to problem solving analysis.
