Definition
Employees in this class are under supervision of a test administrator. Work performed in administering, scoring and providing information regarding several tests and performing related work as required.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Determines eligibility, age, residence, and prior testing of applicants.
Administers tests included in national testing programs such as ACT, GMAT, GRE, and TOEFL, as well as GED, MAT and CLEP.
Maintains security and accountability of tests before, during and after testing.
Performs other work as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of the administering of testing programs such as American College Testing (ACT), Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), Graduate Records Examination (GRE), Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), General Education Development (GED), Miller's Analogy Test (MAT), College Level Examination Program (CLEP) and others.
Knowledge of scoring techniques.
Ability to maintain the security of the tests.
Ability to score and record test results.
Ability to administer test in the proper setting and atmosphere.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees.
Recommended Qualifications
Applicants possessing these qualifications have a good probability for success in this class. However, applicants not possessing these qualifications should apply if they believe their training and experience will enable them to perform the work successfully. Graduation from a standard high school. Experience involving contact with the public requiring skills in public speaking. Must meet any requirements established by the various testing programs relating to the administration and scoring of their tests.
